The specialists of MNS LTD. have successfully completed R&D project “Developing of the configuration and analysis of the system of the heat exchanger anti-fouling of the marine objects”
The adverse effect of marine fouling in human economic activity has long been known. The special problem is the fouling of the underwater parts of ship’s hull and pedestals of oil platforms.
For the ships the results of marine fouling are first of all losses of speed, maneuverability, increased fuel consumption and in general a deterioration in the economy of the fleet operations, but the marine fouling of the offshore platforms’ pedestals during long-term using may become a serious trouble.
Therefore, it is not surprising that interest in this topic is so great and more than $ 100 billion is spent annually on studying this problem in the world.
Specialists of MNS LTD. undertook successfully the R&D “Development of the design and calculation supporting of the system for the heat exchanger anti-fouling of the marine objects” that was ordered by one of the famous Russian design bureaus.
The goal of research was to find the favorable engineering solution by using the system of the heat exchanger anti-fouling based on the electrochemical dissociation of copper ions on special objects of marine equipment.
As a result of the research, the customer was presented with a promising description of a system of anti-fouling protection for the heat exchangers of marine equipment. The basic design and technical construction criteria of anti-fouling protection for the heat exchangers and pipeline elements are defined.
A detailed study of the design of the anode unit for the equipment for retrofit and new-buildings was done.
Because of a novelty for the shipbuilding the technical solutions by the electrolysis dissociation of copper ions for the anti-fouling protection for the heat exchangers and for the estimation of efficacy of the presented configuration, MNS LTD. is preparing the prototype for comprehensive analysis.
In continuation of the topic of anti-fouling protecting the ship’s construct MNS LTD. is beginning the engineering study of the complex of active anti-fouling and anti-corrosion protection of the shaft-propeller system and after rake of ships and vessels based on innovative technologies.
